That being said, there is a part of me that is a little sad. Patrick is at work the next few days so it is a lot of PD and I alone time. I was thinking as I rocked and sang to him tonight that this is the last week that just he and I will be doing that together without anyone else in the house. It is a little bitter-sweet. I wanted to write a little to remember PD before the baby since I will be a little busy after.
PD is growing up into a super fun guy. He is getting more and more independent every day. We have moved some of his toys upstairs, so me seem to spend a lot of our time there. He likes to make Daddy and Mommy sausage and coffee in his kitchen (regular visits to "Booboo Bagel" and a parental habit for coffee is clearly influencing his culinary decisions). He has a little airport that he uses on occasion as well. PD's favorite thing upstairs is jumping on the mattress in the guest room and looking out the windows for school buses right now. He will jump for a while then leave, shutting the door. Where he is going depends on the day but it is most often to Grampy and Grammy's house.
It has been incredibly cold here in IA. We like to beat the cold by going to the library, "swimming" in the master tub and once we even went to the Science Center. PD has tons of fun watching other kids, but he gets a little nervous around them and needs some reassurance. He will gladly let another kid take anything from him without a fight. Patrick and I think that we might need to get him around other kids a little more often.
Around adults, PD has no fear. He is a total ham and knows that everyone thinks he is adorable. I love watching him be silly and getting people to laugh. PD knows a ton of songs. His current favorites to sing are "The Farmer in the Dell", "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Away in a Manger" and so many others that it is hard to keep track. He has been able to count to 10 and do the alphabet song for a while. He is starting to get the concept of actually counting things and can recognize the letter "R".
PD loves to look at animals and play with the dogs. He is finally getting used to snow clothes and has fun playing in the snow with Patrick. PD will try to do just about anything if it is "Just like Daddy."
The boy eats like a champ. He will try almost anything with recent favorites being avocados, salad with Catalina dressing, asparagus, apples (sauce, halves and apple dippers without dip at McD's), very berry ice cream and pumpkin cake. The only things he will not eat are plain green beans, cooked green peppers and onions and milk out of anything that is not a bottle.
I love this little boy and feel like I will miss my time with only him. I wonder how a new baby will change things. PD loves to talk about when baby brother is coming home and play in his room. I think..."Poor kid has no idea."
We shall see...
